Presentation Night

The Fishing Club’s Annual Presentation and Dinner Night is always a well-attended evening to recognise the achievements of Club members throughout the fishing competition year.

Awards are presented to winners and runners up in the divisions of Offshore and Estuary Mens ‘A’ Grade, Mens ‘B’ Grade, Veterans, Ladies and Juniors. Awards are also presented for some of the heaviest fish for both offshore and estuary. It is a time when the Club recognises the efforts of our Club volunteers, sponsors and supporters.

Christmas

This event is always a relaxing day and the highlight of the day is the lunch provided by the Fishing Club. The Club’s Social Secretary with a team of helpers ensures a fun event for all members to celebrate the festive system.

Bowls Days

The Social Club arranges lawn bowls mornings at the Pelican Waters Bowls Club once a year. These popular Sunday morning social bowls are well supported by our Club members which include our juniors. More information as to the proposed dates will be posted once they have become available.

Junior Angling Events

The CPBC Fishing Club is committed to educate junior anglers in the practice of responsible and sustainable recreational fishing.

The Club conducts an annual ‘Schoolfish Program’ with Year 5 students from Golden Beach State School and hosts an annual “Take A Kid Fishing Day” open to all budding junior anglers in the district. These annual junior fishing events are conducted by volunteers from the Club and are funded by the fishing club and generous local sponsors.

Take A Kid Fishing Day

The annual ‘Take A Kid Fishing Day’ has become so popular in recent years that it now attracts up to 200 junior anglers competing for major prizes for longest Bream, Flathead, Whiting and a meritorious fish. There is also an extensive list of random draws for fishing accessories and tackle generously donated by local businesses. The day is usually held during the spring school holidays. Registration is free and commences at 7:00am at the Caloundra Power Boat Club. Fishing is permitted anywhere along the shores of Golden Beach or in the Pumicestone Passage from your boat with weigh in closing at 11.30am. More information will come available on our home page as this event draws closer.

School Fish Programme:
The annual ‘Schoolfish Program’ with Year 5 students from Golden Beach State School is held over a three week period consisting of three morning sessions. The initial session is conducted in the school auditorium / hall and consists of general theory in the art and types of fishing including the practice of responsible and sustainable recreational fishing. The second session is conducted on the school oval and includes education in the use of fishing equipment and accessories. Here the students are taught the art of casting a fishing line. The final session is conducted along the foreshores of the Pumicestone Passage at Golden Beach. The students now apply their fishing skills and are encouraged to catch and release their fish. This educational program is generously funded by the Fishing Club.
